What Is Good Health?

Health, as defined by the World Health Organization, is, “a condition of total health wherein all of a person’s systems and organs are functioning well and the person is in no danger of suffering from any physical ailment.” A variety of other definitions have also been used over the years for various purposes. In the most basic terms, health is viewed as a state of well being, completeness and a absence of disease. While these three terms are often used synonymously, health is often described as an absence of disease or physical debilitation.

The absence of physical environment contributes to poor health. This is because although we may be healthy physically, our physical environments can make us sick. A sick body can lead to the development of a variety of illness and disease, which can then lead to a poor mental health, as well as poor health generally. Mental health refers to a person’s ability to learn, interact, concentrate, make good decisions and achieve goals.

Achieving good health requires paying special attention to what you eat, how you exercise, what you drink, your sleep quality and the quality of your daily environment. The best health care strategies start with the individual who has a responsibility for his or her own health. Poor eating habits, such as skipping meals and eating junk food, causes the body to become unhealthy through excess calorie intake and lack of exercise. Exercise is essential to maintaining a healthy weight and to reducing stress levels as well. A healthy diet encourages a balanced set of nutrients that are necessary for good health and an overall feeling of well being. A combination of healthy eating and a combination of physical exercise and appropriate and regular sleep schedules helps individuals to maintain the optimal level of health.
